Historic EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour event to take place in Yerevan
Yerevan, Armenia, September 8, 2017. The capital city of Armenia, Yerevan will be playing host this weekend to a men’s-only stop of the 2017 EEVZA Beach Volleyball Tour. It is the first time an international Beach Volleyball competition of this calibre is taking place in Yerevan – but for sure, it will not be the last.
A total 15 teams from eight countries – Armenia, Belarus, Georgia, Israel, Lithuania, Poland, Russia and Ukraine – will participate in the competition. The tournament will run according to the double-elimination format and last for three days, with the medal matches scheduled for Sunday, September 10.
The members of the local Organising Committee are truly excited ahead of the competition – as much as the foreign officials are, i.e. EEVZA Technical Supervisor Ilya Volodarskiy of Russia and two international referees, Tiit Koiv of Estonia and Vladimir Zhuchkov of Russia. More than 20 volunteers are involved in the delivery of the tournament in order to make it a truly memorable one.
Many sports fans from Yerevan and Armenia have shown an interest in the event, hoping to get to see Beach Volleyball at its finest for the first time in their lives.
